An extremely active and able officer, tactful and very popular with the men without in any way losing his hold over them. He has a good knowledge of Chinese, as well as Hindustani (both Urdu and Punjabi) and has an expert knowledge of the system of identification by finger prints. He is a candidate for transfer if sufficient inducement is offered. He has a good aptitude for dealing with Indian Police work.
I consider he would give satisfactory service in any post to which he might be appointed.
Apart from myself, he has been doing a good deal of confidential Indian work in connection with the Sikh movement in the Far East, which I think has been appreciated.
He completed a short term of duty as CSP. While there, he did alright.
He has been ADC to the Governor in addition to his job.
